Leicester Botanic Garden – A Visit

So most of you have probably noticed plants becoming fashionable again. Look at any Instagram explore page and thanks to plenty of beautiful and aesthetically pleasing accounts, you’ll find succulents and monsteras, snake plants and ivy dotted everywhere. Anyone following my blog will have noticed that I too have fallen for this love of bringing the outdoors in. I have a growing plant collection, the result of me desperately trying to prove I can look after things. I particularly love  ...

Moving Home // Musings

Hello again! First of all, apologies are in order – sorry I’ve been completely off grid for a while. Without getting into too much detail, life happens and for a lot of personal reasons, everything kind of stopped for a while. But I’m finally getting back into the swing of things! And a huge yay for the summer sun bringing me a renewed sense of purpose!! At the end of April, I made the decision to move back home. Moving away from the life I’d made for myself  ...

A (slightly late) March update

Hi! So March’s plant roundup is much shorter than the last couple. Not sure why, but I bought far fewer plants than usual but I’m more than making up for it this month! March saw me drawn to a firm favourite (Calatheas, I’m looking at you) and a couple of trailing plants. These are great when you’re running out of shelf/windowsill space, as they look especially beautiful in cute ceiling hangers. The first of last month’s buys was another Calathea ornata, which  ...

Hi, Hey, Hello…again

It’s been a while, but I’m back after a much needed break! And I’m really glad to say that things have been on the up since the last time I posted: I’ve finally got myself an internship doing something I really enjoy; I’ve started making more plans for the future; it’s the first time in a long time that I’ve felt properly happy. But one of the things that has really changed is the size of my plant collection – it has really started to grow.  ...

Origami stars, part 2 – stars

Hi again!! Following on from the last post, this post is going to show you how to fold your pentagon into a star. Just a note, if you’re using printed paper, start with the nice side facing down.   1. Fold the pentagon in half through each of its points, unfolding each time.     2. Fold the bottom edge up, making sure that the corners touch the creases made in step 1.     3. Repeat for all sides of the pentagon.     4. Fold the left edge of one of  ...

Origami stars, part 1 – making a pentagon

Hi there! Firstly I just need to say how glad I am that it’s finally February (which also means there’s less than two weeks to go until my birthday!). With the start of a new month comes another new start: me finally getting back into crafting. I decided I wanted to go with something fairly simple and remembered this tutorial on origami stars from an old papercraft book. I am, and always have been, obsessed with anything to do with stars, so this was the perfect first project.  ...

What’s in my bag?

Hi!! This week I’m back with something a little different to my last posts. I’ve always loved reading ‘what’s in my bag’ posts by other bloggers and thought I’d do one myself. Maybe I find looking at what’s in other people’s bags a little too fun, but I think what’s in someone’s bag can tell you quite a lot about them. Although I decided to make all the items look pretty for the pictures, I can assure you that they were all  ...

Time to meet the family!

Hi again! Sorry for the long gap between posts – I’m very aware that I must seem like that end-of-year blogger!ย But now the madness of Christmas and New Years is truly over, I’m starting to settle back into a routine. I’ve been so excited to write my first proper post and have been coming up with a lot of ideas for future ones. After a lot of mulling things over, I decided that introducing you to my little green family would be a good place to start, as I find myself  ...

Hi, Hey, Hello!

Hiya! So here it is… my first blog post. I’d toyed with the idea of starting a blog for a while, and decided that it was finally time to stop putting it off and just do it. I moved from Leicester to Manchester in 2014 for uni. I arrived full of nerves and excitement, and completely unaware that I would fall so in love with the city.ย  Fast-forward three years and I’m still here: a fairly recent graduate, just figuring out what she wants to do. Currently, I’m really  ...
